The phone sits there,
Stubbornly silent.
The doorbell
does not ring,
The mailbox
lies empty

I say
“I understand,
You are too busy to call”
“I will wait till you have more time…”

I also have a life,
Full of things,
That need doing,
One of those things
Invariably involves
A call to her,
Or a chin up to him,
An email to you,
A letter to them,
A picture,
A gift.

Of Appreciation
Love,
Laughter,
Caring,
Sharing.
